ILSAC GF-1
The ILSAC GF-1 standard indicates the oil meets both API SH and the Energy Conserving II (EC-II) requirements. It was created in 1990 and upgraded in 1992 and became the minimum requirement for oil used in American and Japanese automobiles.
ILSAC GF-2
ILSAC GF-2 replaced GF-1 in 1996. The oil must meet both API SJ and EC-II requirements. The GF-2 standards requires 0W-30, 0W-40, 5W-20, 5W-30, 5W-40, 5W-50, 10W-30, 10W-40 and 10W-50 motor oils to meet stringent requirements for phosphorus content, low temperature operation, high temperature deposits and foam control.
ILSAC GF-3
An ILSAC GF-3 an oil must meet both API SL and the EC-II requirements. The GF-3 standard has more stringent parameters regarding long-term effects of the oil on the vehicle emission system, improved fuel economy and improved volatility, deposit control, and viscosity performance. The standard also requires less additive degradation and reduced oil consumption rates over the service life of the oil.
ILSAC GF-4
ILSAC GF-4 is similar to the API SM service category, but it requires an additional sequence VIB Fuel Economy Test (ASTM D6837).
ILSAC GF-5

ILSAC GF-6
The ILSAC GF-6 specification is currently in development and will probably be divided into two sub-specifications. ILSAC GF-6A will be fully backward compatible with ILSAC GF-5 but would offer better fuel economy, better engine protection, and improved performance while maintaining durability. ILSAC GF-6B would deliver a similar performance as ILSAC GF-5A but will allow lower viscosity oils like xW-16, taking advantage of the fuel economy benefits offered by the new SAE 16 viscosity grade.

Even when Mazda and Ford went their separate ways after their 2008 divorce, both companies worked together on specific models like the Mazda BT50 and Ford Ranger. Inside, depending on the level of interior trim, the BT50 offered a rugged or family-friendly environment. A binocular-style instrument cluster with an LCD between the dials showed basic vehicle information. On base models, the center pillar housed only a basic audio system and manually controlled air conditioning. The upper trim levels of the cabin had an infotainment unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Mazda offered the BT50 with the top-mounted version available on the Ranger of that era, a 3.2-liter inline-five-cylinder engine from the Ranger Wildtrak. It was mated to a standard six-speed manual transmission, and a six-speed automatic transmission was available as an option list. A lower range transmission was standard on all 4×4 models.
Mazda BT-50 2015 (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018), 3 generation
The 2015 BT-50 was an updated version of the 2011 model, which was co-produced with Ford. It shared only the windshield, cab design and some parts of the body and chassis. Mazda tried to apply the same design language to the BT-50 that was used for the rest of the lineup outside. Its bent-back headlights and chrome grille were not meant to withstand the rigors of a construction site. It was meant for riding at a ski resort. But the BT-50 could do both. Inside, the automaker used a binocular instrument cluster with a tachometer and speedometer in separate housings. Between them, Mazda installed a red on black LCD display. Under the hood, the BT-50 was still a rugged off-road pickup. It featured a sturdy ladder chassis with independent front suspension and a driving rear axle. It was paired as standard with a six-speed manual transmission, while a six-speed automatic transmission was on the options list.
Mazda BT-50 2011 (2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015), 2 generation
The second generation BT50 was developed by the Mazda Research and Development Center at the Ford Australia Design Center. It shares fewer elements with the Ford Ranger and offers a true Mazda appearance. Externally, the front fenders and headlights were reminiscent of the Mazda 6 sedan. With its arrow-shaped and slanted headlights, it looked more like an SUV than a rugged pickup. The BT50, with its widened arches and wavy lines on the sides, was designed more for lifestyle than work. But the chassis underneath and leaf springs in the rear confirmed its functionality. It was offered as a 2-door cab chassis, an extended cab with tailgates and two tiny seats in the back, and a full-size 4-door that was more suited for an active lifestyle vehicle. The 2011 BT50 was offered with two engine options: a 2.2-liter, suitable for fleet cars, and a powerful 3.2-liter. The standard transmission was a 6-speed manual transmission, while a 6-speed automatic was on the list. The BT50 was available with both rear and 4×4 on request.
Mazda BT-50 2006 (2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011), 1 generation
Mazda was not the first pickup truck model. The BT-50 replaced the previous B-series, known in Europe as the B-2500. The front end resembled the Mazda Tribute SUV. Its headlights were slightly curved along the top edge, and the body-color plastic bumper didn’t look like it belonged on the truck. The automaker installed a chrome horizontal bar in the middle of the grille, flanked by two additional chrome bars on the top and bottom sides. Inside, it was more of an SUV than a pickup truck. The automaker developed a new design style dashboard with a curved line running from the center console to the passenger side. Mazda installed buttons on the steering wheel and a binocular-shaped instrument panel for the driver, with separate clusters for the speedometer and tachometer. In the rear of the four-door version was a flat bench for three, which was not the most desirable seating position in a pickup truck. Under the hood, Mazda offered the BT-50 with two engines borrowed from Ford. Depending on the market, the automaker supplied the vehicle with a 2.5-liter or 3.0-liter unit, both paired with a five-speed manual transmission as standard, with an option for an automatic transmission.
